I would add to this question : are cages systems more prone to host red mites ? (that’s what some farmers observe on the field here) ?
Anne-Christine LefortKeymasterWe have developped on ITAVI’s website some factsheets (in french) to explain in a very practical way how zoning can be implemented in specific productions. They are available here : http://influenza.itavi.asso.fr/

12 July 2022 at 11:23 am in reply to: How can make domestic animals on the farm respect the zoning ? #3014Anne-Christine LefortKeymasterI agree with you Jocelyn ! However, the first results of Netpoulsafe project showed that there is a very low awareness of the farmers about the risk associated with dogs/cats walking through the premises.
12 July 2022 at 9:50 am in reply to: What are the most critical points regarding zoning in farms ? #3004Anne-Christine LefortKeymasterThanks Jocelyn, and can you please give some concrete example of points that are most often not well implemented in the farm, in each of those 3 categories ?
And why they are not well implemented ? (too difficult to set up, time consuming etc..) ?
Anne-Christine LefortKeymasterHi Jeroen, in France we have the PULSE tool for fattening ducks, for foie gras ducks, and for free-range broilers .
These are Excel files that the farmer fills up with his vet or technician, to make an asessement of the biosecurity on his farm.
There is also a mobile app called EVA that checks the compliance of poultry farms with the sanitary chart (there is a part about biosecurity), available for android and Iphone.

24 May 2022 at 4:15 pm in reply to: Are there systems available to quantify biosecurity in animal production ? #2405Anne-Christine LefortKeymasterThanks Jeroen, in France we have the PULSE excel file, that helps the farmer check his is online with the good biosecurity practices in his farm. This works for free-range broilers, ducks and gees (fattening ducks as well as “foie gras” ducks). It is available on the ITAVI website in french.
Anne-Christine LefortKeymasterDo you get a note, or a graphic result to quantify biosecurity ?
Anne-Christine LefortKeymasterDo you think that the farmer will learn more if he makes a self assesment or if his vet or techncian makes the assessment ? Or should the assessment be made by a neutral and external person ?
Anne-Christine LefortKeymasterThanks, what kind of products to use for rodents ? (what are the most efficient, the less efficient ones ? )
Anne-Christine LefortKeymasterThanks, what about darkling beetles ? Can you suggest some efficent products/measures to eliminate them ?
Anne-Christine LefortKeymasterWhat is the most problematic issue in farms that you observed (what the farmers have problems to handle correctly the most often) ?

Anne-Christine LefortKeymasterDo you have experience of nets ?
In some countries, poultry are obliged to stay in the buildings in dangerous periods when there are avian influenza outbreaks around.11 March 2022 at 3:11 pm in reply to: Role of wide animals in the spread of Salmonella and Campylobacter #1648Anne-Christine LefortKeymasterThanks, Can you precise what kind of physical and chemical measures we can use and what are the most efficient ones, what are the ones that do not work and are to avoid ?
