I have seen quicklime footbaths on the field. Technically they have the advantage to use a disinfectant which may be efficient in the presence of organic material (mud, litter, etc.) and thus may be useful weven when boots are not properly clean from organic material. Also, as opposed to liquid disinfectants, quicklime (as a powder) mays help reach a longer contact time, as it “sticks” to the boot. So, conceptually it could be interesting but so far there is too scarce available scientific evidence on their effectiveness. And the boots will have a shorter lifespan…
Showering takes time to be done (and adapted premises, therefore emore expensive). I would suggest that showering should take place in farms which have stronger needs for biosecurity, and fewer visitors. Therefore selection farms, multiplication farms, hatcheries and perhaps final production sites (meat or layer production) when their size is very important.
